Tynong's St Thomas Aquinas
College is preparing for its 10th Annual Dinner Auction
fundraiser. The Catholic college
has more than 300 students, coming from Pakenham, Tynong,
Garfield, Drouin, Bunyip, Warragul and Gembrook.
A new science block has been
built to service the school's growing population, and a new car
park, administration building and library are on the agenda for
this year.
The College opened its doors in
1996 and in 2000 had its first community
fundraiser. Each year, the
committee looks for local businesses to sponsor the event
AND for items to auction off.
Last year, the event attracted
almost 250 people and raised $46,000 with items such as a
canoe, dirt bikes, a holiday, antiques, a wine rack with 30
bottles of wine and much more under the
hammer. Sponsors included
Pakenham Real Estate, Andrew's Autos, Gippsland Chauffeur
Drive and Frenken Homes.
A number of different sponsorship
packages are available for local businesses; from Bronze for
$250 to Platinum for a $5000 cash donation. Each package has a
range of benefits, from advertising to Dinner Auction
tickets and even a Limo ride to the event. Full details are available
here.
Sponsorship donations by
businesses are considered an advertising expense and are
therefore tax deductable.
